After choosing a domain name, optimizing the URLs for your pages is the next SEO step. SEO for your page URLs is important because keywords in the URL are a ranking factor and short and descriptive URLs can help with link building and user interaction. Like your visitors, search engines read a URL to get a clue for the contents of the page. Nowadays the way in which we structure URL addresses, write title tags and meta-descriptions, optimize website images and so on becomes less important as Google focuses on other SEO factors (mostly on content and link building techniques). Machines are writing stories and that is often something Google is not a fan of. Meta descriptions are technically HTML attributes that offer concise explanations of what a webpage is about. They can be used on search engine result pages to show a preview for a webpage. They are far less of a direct ranking signal as they once were (almost not at all these days) BUT they remain important because – when Google chose to use the suggested meta description – they are the effective ‘sales pitch’ to users to click on your webpage. How relevant is your product page or category page to the search term? This is a huge ranking factor that’s often neglected. Stick to keywords that your products would genuinely satisfy. You’re not foolin’ Google.

Be mindful of structure

Search engine optimization is perhaps one of the greatest marketing tools to come about online, but without proper article submissions it won’t work out to your liking. That is why it’s imperative to search and find the best article directories to submit your hard earned work and watch the numbers start to add up. There are two types of backlinks. Firstly, a backlink could be from an external website that links to a page on your site. Secondly, you can have internal links from one page on your site to another page on your website. Running a PBN is time-consuming, it costs money and building clean, legitimate backlinks from real websites doesn’t have to be difficult. Using a lot of engaging media like helpful graphics, interesting (and related) images, and videos can also help to provide more value and keep visitors more engaged. Thus, keeping them around longer. Obviously every one wants the number one position, but someone has to come second. Now this isn't so bad as, while your website may only rank perhaps 4th or 6th on engines such as Google, there will be others which will rank you number one!

Asking your suppliers to provide a link to your site, using local chambers of commerce and guest posting on industry relevant blogs are all strategies that we’d recommend if you’re looking to gain more backlinks for your business.

Assess the competitive landscape. If possible, drive search interest in a tagline that’s not already well covered by unrelated sites. The first step in a search optimization analysis is to understand our goals and objectives for performing SEO. Not all types of SEO are needed for each client. Some clients may benefit more, for example, from local SEO than organic SEO. The first step in an effective SEO strategy is understanding the client’s reason for search engine optimization. You can get up to six sitelinks for your SERP listing, plus a searchbox if you can wrangle one. On desktop, this means that four or five times as much SERP space is given over to your listing, while on mobile, a sitelinked listing can take up the entire screen. Why do you need a Freelance SEO Consultant SEO ranking improves when visitors stay on your site longer, view more pages, and repeat their visits. The more user-friendly your site is, the more likely this is going to happen. If you do nothing else, installing analytics software is the one SEO tip you must try. Free, flexible and powerful, Google Analytics lets you track how many people are using your website, and what they do when they are there.

Crawling and Indexing

Gaz Hall, a Freelance SEO Consultant from SEO Hull, commented: "Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) is a key part of any digital marketing campaign and needs the right expertise to make it happen. " Do your maths - its one of the primary resources for this sort of thing. Its as simple as KS2 Maths. Really! It’s OK to do promotion to tell people about your content, but if you can only get links by offering money to people or other big incentives, then you’re likely doing it wrong. One of the best ways to get links is to publish original research. That’s not that hard to do. Find out a question that people have in your industry and then do something to answer that question with data. Chances are, there are a number of sites that cover topic areas similar to yours. Opening up communication with these sites is usually beneficial. Hot topics in your niche or community could spark additional ideas for content or building a good community resource. Be careful not to include links within content that lead directly to the desktop or mobile version of a page. Even if the user will be switched to the correct URL based on their device, Google sees these types of links as a bad user experience. Site speed, from the front end to the back end, is an often overlooked area of web development that also has SEO implications.

Mapping Your Products and Services

In days of yore, SEO agencies would take on a client, create a website, copy and paste a deluge of keywords at the foot of all its webpages, and make it magically disappear by turning the copy white. Placing ads in front of potential customers has traditionally been one of the easiest ways to introduce your product to the world, but things have changed a lot over the years. While traditional advertisements still have their place, companies no longer have to rely on a chance encounter to get their products in front of their customers. Because Google likes sites that link out to good quality content, publishing your own curated content can be a very smart move. Buyers using search engines to look for information tend to trust and follow links displayed in the editorial section of the search-results page. The number, accuracy and quality of your business' local citations improve its chances of featuring highly in search results.

Keep your page titles down to 7-9 words or 55 characters, including spaces

When improving your page speed, you should always ask yourself if you need all these assets, libraries, images, plugins, theme features and so on. The famous saying “less is more” is still as valuable as ever. Depending on your CMS, you can create a separate Google search results headline to the one that appears on your website. For the majority of websites, you can achieve this through the metadata section of an article and changing the ‘page title’ section. It essentially means you can go a bit more SEO-heavy on your Google search results headline, while retaining a more user-friendly one on your actual webpage. One of the first steps in learning how to build backlinks is to understand the value of guest blogging. With guest blogging, you write content to be published on another website, with the hopes that the external site will include a link to your site when they publish. Keyword stuffing, hiding keywords in a very small font or a color that blends with the background, and paying for incoming links are all tactics that Google considers to be spam, and your website’s search traffic will be negatively affected if you’re caught doing any of them. Backlinks are arguably the most important single component of an online marketing/SEO campaign because they not only help to drive traffic, but also further increase your PageRank and therefore likelihood of appearing high up in the SERPs (Search Engine Results Pages).
